Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an antifoaming agent which rarely suffers from the aggregation of an oil phase and thus exhibits excellent antifoaming effect; and a process for producing such an antifoaming agent. This antifoaming agent is a composition which comprises a higher alcohol, a micro- crystalline wax and/or a petrolatum, and a polyhydric alcohol and which has an O/W emulsion structure. This process for producing an antifoaming agent includes an emulsification step of emulsifying a liquid oil component which comprises a higher alcohol and a microcrystalline wax and/or petrolatum in water in the presence of a polyhydric alcohol to form an O/W emulsion.
