Abstract:
Disclosed is an antifouling coating composition for forming an antifouling coating that has a stable level of coating fatigue on ships, underwater structures, and the like, and which has excellent antifouling properties over the long term. The antifouling coating composition comprises a hydrolyzable copolymer (A) and an antifouling agent (B). The aforementioned hydrolyzable copolymer (A) is a metal salt bond-containing copolymer, etc., that has a component unit derived from a monomer (a21) represented by a general formula (II): CH2 = C(R2)-COO-M-O-CO-C(R2) = CH2 … (II) (wherein, M represents zinc or copper, and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group), and also has a component unit derived from another, unsaturated monomer (a22) that is capable of copolymerization with the aforementioned monomer (a21). The aforementioned antifouling agent (B) at least contains medetomidine.
