Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a technique for lowering blood pressure with the use of a chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharide. [Solution] An antihypertensive drug and an antihypertensive food composition comprising a chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharide as an active ingredient, a method for lowering blood pressure, a method for preventing or improving hypertension, and use of a chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharide for producing an antihypertensive drug. According to the present invention, blood pressure can be lowered or an increase in blood pressure can be inhibited by using the active ingredient by oral administration, namely, a simple and noninvasive form of usage. Thus, the present invention can contribute to the prevention or improvement of hypertensive conditions.
