Title:
ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM OPERATING DIRECTLY ON THE SERVO BRAKE BY A VALVE PLACED ON THE SECTION CONNECTING TO THE MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1995/032114
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present antilock brake system is equipped with a valve (4) in the vacuum line (1) connecting the servo booster (3) to the engine (2). The valve (4) is operated by a motor (5) connected to a pressure responsive means (8) in one of the brake circuits (7) or to the wheel speed sensors. When the wheels are locked during braking, the valve (4) causes a decrease of the vacuum inside the brake booster (3), thereby reducing the brake pressure.

Description:
ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM OPERATING DIRECTLY ON THE SERVO BRAKE BY A VALVE PLACED ON THE SECTION CONNECTING TO THE MOTOR.

The antilock braking systems, known as ABS, both reduce the braking distance and assure at the most the vehicle directional control stability. An ABS system is equipped with an electronic gearcase which, through signals coming from sensors placed in preference on the wheel hubs, checks the speed of every wheel comparing it with the speed of the car If a wheel locks, this ABS system looses it for a moment.

The electronic gearcase transmits the processing data to an hydraulic gearcase which, through an hydraulic circuit, checks the pressure to send to the braking components placed on the wheels. The hydraulic gearcase is connected to the servo brake and it amplifies the force applied to the brake pedal.

The object of this patent on industrial invention is the proposal of a new antilock system operating directly en the servo Drake without the hydraulic gearcase and its connecting circuit. The drawning of this antilock system is on the Tab 1/1 ( Fig 1.)

On the suction pipeline (1), connecting the motor (2) to Ihe servo brake(3) there is a valve (4) operated by the electric motor (5); the brakes pump (6) is connected to the front wheels by means of the hydraulic pipeline (7), on which there is a valve (8) checking the braking system.

A further valve (9) is placed on tie pipeline (1) and checks the suction pressure applied to it.( Figs 2 and 3 ) show the valve (4), operated by a motor (5), both during the breaking suction pressure and during the normal suction pressure. The valve (4), on the suction pipeline conneding the motor to the servo brake, allows, when open, to release some suction pressure of the servo brake, decreasing the braking effect and loosening the wheels.

The motor (5) will be operated by the vake (8) which, placed on the front braking

circuit, senses the locking of the wheels. In any case this valve (8) operates the motor if the pressure is over the setting point.

The motor could also be operated by a lock sensor applied to the brakes calipers.

When the wheels are loosened, by means of the suction pressure reduction the 5 valve (8) will operate the motor (5) to return the valve (4) to normal suction presslon. Reduction and reset of the braking action will often repeat during the braking, whenever the locking of the wheels occurs. Our antilock braking system is easier than the traditional ABS syslem : il doesn'l need the hydraulic gearcase, the electronic gearcase or their connecling circuit. -jO Our system includes few and simple components and for these reasons it's very economical both during the installation and to adjust cars without ABS. This also makes it very reliable.

The drawning shows a valve to sense the locking of the wheels only on the front braking system but obviously that valve can be also placed on the braking circuit of the rear wheels, in order to obtain a better effect.

As mentioned above the valve can be replaced by a lock sensor placed on the wheels.

It's possible to change this invention formally and structuraliy, however you need to maintain the following claims
