Abstract:
The present invention relates to: an antimicrobial agent for a sustained fibre product which can easily be impregnated with a metal-based antimicrobial component able to impart antimicrobial properties to the fibre product, and with which dirt resistant properties and antimicrobial properties are obtained without changing the fibre product; and a method for using the same. The invention provides: an antimicrobial agent for a sustained fibre product obtained by mixing a poly(acrylic acid) having a molecular weight of no more than 20,000 and/or an alkali metal salt thereof, a titanate coupling agent and water; and a method for using the antimicrobial agent for a sustained fibre product, in which a fibre product is impregnated with the antimicrobial agent for a sustained fibre product, and the impregnated area is heated.
