Abstract:
The present invention refers to a pharmaceutical composition comprising polysiloxane oligomers of formula (I), functionalized with at least one antimicrobial agent. Of note, the composition is stable over the time, and is able to bind the surface of medical implants, such as titanium dental implants, thus trapping the antimicrobial agent over the surface of the thus coated implant. This allows the formation of an antimicrobic coating system (bound to the surface of the titanium implant) which can release very slowly the antimicrobial component over the time, directly to the region surrounding the implant, thus avoiding bacterial infections.
