Title:
ANTISTATIC THERMO-RESISTANT WATERPROOF WATCH
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/138636
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The watch made of by antistatic materials with superior thermal and electrical resistance, suitable for specific high risk environments where conventional watches are not allowed. The structural and external design, without any visible points or sharp edges, aims to minimize the electrostatic charge accumulation. The dial has been designed in order to improve readability and visibility even in poor light conditions.

CLAIMS

1. a watch characterized by an antistatic external structure, fireproof, highly

resistant to mechanical stress and erosion, with high electrical and thermal

resistance properties

2. a watch as claimed in claim 1, characterized by specific ergonomic design

without any points or sharp edges, in order to point out the antistatic

properties of the product (pict. 1, item 1)

3. a watch as claimed in claims 1 and 2, characterized by a unidirectional

turning bezel embedded under the glass (pict. 1, item 2), autolocking,

adjustable through a fold-away screwed crown (pict. 1, item 3)

4. a watch as claimed in all preceding claims, characterized by an antistatic

mineral glass, scratch-proof with no-reflex treatment of the internal

surface

5. a watch as claimed in all preceding claims, characterized by an antistatic

strap, fireproof, hooked up to the watch case by means of an antistatic

pass-through screw (pict. 1, item 4)

6. a watch as claimed in all preceding claims, characterized by higher

visibility and readability, thanks to the usage of unconventional size

indexes and luminous materials (pict. 1, item 5)

Description:

TITLE OF THE INVENTION: "Antistatic thermo-resistant waterproof watch"

DESCRIPTION

The watch referred to by the present patent is to be used by operators in high

thermal risk environments and potentially explosive atmospheres. Hence it's

been designed using new technology alloys, with mechanical properties

similar to steel but at the same time antistatic, electrically insulating and

thermo resistant.

All today's procedures for emergency operations in burst risky environments

definitely forbid the use of common wristwatches made up of conventional

materials.

The operator highlights the need of wearing a tool for measuring the time and

therefore to monitor his own activity, depending on actual risks and with

regard to the protection devices worn and their duration, like for instance

S.C.B.A.

This watch is actually a multifunctional device, expandable by means of

additional components (e.g. pyrometer, laser pointer, thermometer) capable

of turning the watch into a Personal Protection Equipment.

Indexes visibility has been specifically designed to allow time control even

with poor light, with luminous spheres in place of arabic numbers for hours

(pict. 1, item 5).

The autolocking turning bezel under the glass, adjustable through a screwed

crown at 2 hours, presents a luminous countdown numbering for easier

monitoring of the residual time (pict. 1, item 2).

The case has been designed with the aim of visually showing the physical

properties of the watch, therefore it's got smooth shapes, without points or

sharp edges, meaning the antistatic properties of the product through its

exterior appearance (pict 1, item 1).

The usage of the antistatic waterproof thermo-resistant watch as of the

present patent improves the safety threshold of emergency operators while

performing their assigned duties.
