Abstract:
Provided is an antiviral agent that can be used by people having sensitive skin or on the face, and that has excellent bactericidal activity in that it deactivates viruses such as noroviruses and influenza viruses. Also provided is a cleanser which is easily decomposed in nature and therefore does not cause environmental pollution, does not contain bactericides and therefore does not readily cause eczema or allergic dermatitis, and has antiviral activity. The antiviral agent contains, as the active ingredient, a surfactant having C18 unsaturated alkyl groups. A virus can be deactivated using a very weak concentration and it is therefore not necessary to lather or rinse with water as is the case with cleansers such as medicinal soaps.
