Abstract:
Provided is an aperture mechanism control method in which a frame member (31) is arranged so that a round opening (311) is positioned on the imaging axis (BM) of a camera device (10). In addition, aperture blades (32, 33) that comprise linear opening edge sections (321, 332) are supported by the frame member (31) and move toward and away from each other in a direction that is orthogonal to the imaging axis (BM). When controlling this aperture mechanism (30), a control unit (38) forces the aperture mechanism (30) to open when the ambient brightness becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value and performs light amount adjustment using a variable electronic shutter. In this way, the aperture mechanism (30) opens each of the aperture blades (32, 33) and thereby mitigates flares that occur at the linear opening edge sections (321, 331) of the aperture blades (32, 33) as a result of vehicle headlights and the like. It is thus possible to reduce the occurrence of states in which it becomes difficult to see license plates and the like.
