Abstract:
An apparatus for controlling a vehicle is provided with an internal-combustion engine, a motor, a power storage unit for supplying power to the motor, and a transmission for transmitting driving force from the internal-combustion engine and/or the motor to a drive shaft. When a turning movement of the vehicle is detected by a turning movement detection unit, which is for detecting any turning movement by the vehicle, the control apparatus prohibits any gear changes at the transmission at least during the turning movement of the vehicle, and when the power storage state of the power storage unit satisfies a first power storage condition, the control apparatus permits an increase in the assisting by the motor while continuing to prohibit any gear changes at the transmission. Therefore, a smooth re-acceleration can be achieved upon a turning movement that involves acceleration/deceleration.
