Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for converting kinetic energy of a fluid into rotational kinetic energy, comprising a support (102) installed either on the ground or on a float (101); a waterwheel-shaped rotating body (100) which rotates about a rotating shaft (120) arranged in the support (102); and a caterpillar rope (10) which is arranged along the outer surface of the rotating body (100), such that the caterpillar rope (10) moves by means of a plurality of fluid receiving members (20) spaced equidistantly apart from each other in a predetermined direction in accordance with the flow of the fluid, to rotate the rotating body (100), wherein the rotating body (100) converts the kinetic energy of the fluid, transferred by the caterpillar rope (10), into rotational kinetic energy by means of the rotation of the rotating shaft (120). The apparatus of the present invention can be installed in any place where a fluid flows, regardless of the type of the fluid such as water or air, and regardless of the place such as sea, river or atmosphere. The apparatus of the present invention is simple in configuration, and thus reduces installation costs, and generates no carbon dioxide (CO2), and thus is environmentally friendly.
