Abstract:
The apparatus instantaneously cuts any of various types of roving, such as glass fiber, asbestos yarn orcotton yarn, to any desired length and at any desired period in accordance with manufacturing conditions, in a manufacturing process in which the roving is employed as a material, and then allowsthe cut roving to flow out to the manufacturing process. A continuous conveyer method is employed in which compressed air is supplied from an air inducer (4) provided at one end of a guide tube (6), and a high-speed air flow generated thereby is utilized as aroving conveyer means. A cutting means is employed which consists of an upper cutting knife (8) which slides in a direction orthogonal to the direction of travel of roving (2) being conveyed, and a lower cutting knife (12) which is fixed. The upper and lowercutting knives (8) and (12) are provided with openings (9) and (13), (14), respectively which allow the conveyed roving (2) to pass.
