Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus for dispensing a roll of material such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The apparatus includes an enclosable housing (12) having a roll holding piece (14), a cover piece (16), and a hinge assembly (22) for joining the roll holding piece (14) and cover piece (16). The hinge assembly (22) permits opening of the housing (12) while the cover piece (16) and roll holding piece (14) remain connected by the hinge assembly (22). The apparatus also includes an applicator (30) located proximate to the dispensing end (20B) for applying a material to a substrate; a discharge opening (26) for the material, and a cutting member (28) located proximate to the dispensing end (20B) for cutting the material. The apparatus of the present invention is particularly useful as a hand-held tape dispenser.
