Abstract:

Disclosed are an apparatus for driving a motor and a method for controlling the same. The apparatus for driving a motor may comprise: an inverter for supplying driving power to the motor; a power unit for supplying direct current power to the inverter; a detection unit for detecting direct current voltage supplied to the inverter and driving current that the inverter supplies to the motor; and a control unit which calculates loss in the motor and loss in the inverter and the power unit on the basis of the detected direct current voltage and driving current and prestored information of the inverter and power unit, controls the inverter so as to adjust the driving current on the basis of the calculated loss in the motor, thereby compensating for iron loss and copper loss, and controls the power unit so as to adjust the direct current power supplied to the inverter on the basis of the calculated loss in the motor, inverter and the power unit, thereby compensating for the loss in the inverter and power unit.
