What Is Claimed Is:
1. An apparatus for exhausting odors from a chamber of a toilet, comprising : a toilet seat attached to a main body of the chamber, and having a plurality of inlet openings and internal passageway; a fan; an inlet pipe connected to the internal passageway and to the fan; and an exhaust duct for communicating with the fan and a sewage drain of the main body of the chamber.
2. The apparatus according to claim 1 further comprises a switch installed at a bottom surface of the toilet seat and controlling the operation of the fan.
3. The apparatus according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein a ventilating opening for communicating with the sewage drain is drilled into the main body of the chamber, and the exhaust duct is connected to the ventilating opening.
Description:
APPARATUS FOR EXHAUSTING BAD SMELL FROM CHAMBER Background of the Invention Technical Field The present invention relates to an apparatus for exhausting noxious odors of human waste from a chamber of a toilet through a sewage drain inside of the toilet.

Background Art A typical hollow toilet seat has a plurality of inlet openings drilled into a bottom surface of the hollow toilet seat. These inlet openings suck in noxious odors of human waste from a chamber of the toilet through a fan and exhaust the odors to the outside through an internal passageway of the hollow. Other toilet seats have a deodorizer for the noxious odors to pass through. However, the former required a separate exhaust duct connected to the outside to remove the noxious odors from the toilet. The latter also posed a problem that users had to change the deodorizer very often.

Disclosure of Invention It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus for exhausting odors from a chamber of a toilet without an odor exhaust duct installation.

To achieve the above object, there is provided an apparatus for exhausting odors from a chamber of a toilet, including: a toilet seat attached to a main body of the chamber, and having a plurality of inlet openings and internal passageway; a fan; an inlet pipe connected to the internal passageway and to the fan; and an exhaust duct

for communicating with the fan and a sewage drain of the main body of the chamber.

In the above-described constitution, the exhaust duct is connected to the sewage drain, so that noxious odors can be exhausted effectively without using a separate odor exhaust pipe.

Preferably, a switch is further installed at a bottom surface of the toilet seat for the purpose of an automatic operation of the fan.

Moreover, a ventilating opening that communicates with the sewage drain is drilled into the main body of the chamber, and the exhaust duct is connected to the ventilating opening, thereby simplifying the installation of the exhaust duct.

Brief Description of Drawings The above objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an apparatus for exhausting odors from a chamber of a toilet in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating assembling of upper and lower toilet seats; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of an apparatus for exhausting odors from a chamber of a toilet in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invent; and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of Fig. 4.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention A preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described herein below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, well-known functions or constructions are not described in detail since they would obscure the invention in unnecessary detail.

[Embodiment 1] As illustrated in Figs. 1 through 3, an apparatus for exhausting odors of human waste from a toilet includes toilet seats having a plurality of inlet openings 123 drilled into a bottom surface of a hollow toilet seat in an upper part of a main body 101 of the chamber of the toilet, and an inlet passageway 125; and a sewage drain for exhausting the odors through a fan 130 via the inlet passageway 125 inside of the hollow where the inlet openings 123 are connected to each other.

The toilet seat includes an upper toilet seat 110 and a lower toilet seat 120.

The lower toilet seat 120 has equally spaced inlet openings 123 drilled into an edge surface, and contacts with the upper toilet seat 110 in such a manner that upper protruded edge portions 121 and 122 of the lower toilet seat 120 fit into lower protruded edge portions 111 and 112 of the upper toilet seat 110. Four support pieces 113 having openings 113a on both sides are protruded from the upper toilet seat 110, and also openings 124 are drilled into the lower toilet seat 120 to be opposite to the openings 113a. Both projections 114a of a rubber hoof 114 are pushed into the both openings 113a of the lower toilet set 120. As a result, an internal passageway 125 is formed between the upper and lower toilet seats 110 and 120. Through this simple method, the internal passageway 125 is formed inside of the toilet seats. An inlet pipe 131 of the fan 130 mounted on the top of a rear surface of the main body of the chamber of the toilet communicates with the internal

passageway 125, and an exhaust duct 132 is connected to a ventilating opening 103 that is drilled into the top end of a sewage drain 102 at the rear side of the main body 101.

A button switch 104 is installed at one side of the joint portion of the upper toilet seat 110 and the lower toilet seat 120. The button switch 104 automatically turns on when a person sits on the toilet seat. A junction timer is built in the button switch 104. Therefore, although the button switch 104 is turned off as the person stands up after stool, the fan 130 continues its operation for 30-60 seconds more in order to ensure that remaining odors are completely sucked off. Also, an air backflow preventer like a check valve is installed at the exhaust duct 132 of the fan 130. Thus, although the fan is not in operation, backflow of the noxious odors from the sewage drain 102 is effectively cut off.

As the exhaust duct is connected to the ventilating opening that communicates with the sewage drain, the noxious odors are exhausted to the outside through sewage drain, and thus, there is no need to install a separate odor exhaust duct of the related art.

Now referring to Figs. 4 and 5, an apparatus for exhausting odors of human waste from a toilet includes toilet seats having a plurality of inlet openings 202 drilled into a bottom surface of a toilet seat 201 in an upper part of a main body 220 of the toilet, and an inlet passageway 203; and a sewage drain for exhausting the odors through a fan 210 via the inlet passageway 203 inside of the hollow where the inlet openings 202 are connected to each other.

A connecting plate 231 for connecting a front end 230a of the exhaust duct 230, which extends to the upper portion of the sewage passageway 221 through a central exhaust duct of the main body 220, is secured on a bolt at one side of the

junction of upper and lower toilet seats 201. An inlet pipe 211 of the fan 210 mounted on the top of a rear surface of the main body 220 communicates with the internal passageway 203. When the toilet seat 201 is placed on the main body 220, the front protruded end 230a of the exhaust duct 230 connected to the connecting plate 231 is inserted into the junction opening 212a. Also, a recessed end 205 having the same shape with the connecting plate 231 of the exhaust duct 230 is formed on the bottom surface with the junction opening 212a, so that the connecting plate 231 is securely recessed to the recessed end 205.

A button switch 204, similar to the one in the above-described embodiment 1, is installed at one side of the junction on the bottom surface of the toilet seat, and serves to control the operation of the fan 210.

While the invention has been shown and described with reference to certain preferred embodiments thereof, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
