Abstract:
The present invention aims to resolve the problems of prior art by providing an apparatus and method for inferring the position of a pedestrian based on pedestrian movement detection, which can infer the position of a pedestrian carrying a mobile device indoors regardless of the pedestrian's unspecified behavioral patterns and movements in order to provide said pedestrian with the position information. To this end, a method for inferring the position of a pedestrian includes the steps of: detecting a specific one of a plurality of the movements of the pedestrian; performing the specific personal dead-reckoning (PDR) technique corresponding with the detected specific movement which is selected among the specific personal dead-reckoning (PDR) techniques corresponding respectively with the plural movements; and inferring the position of the pedestrian by means of the specific personal dead-reckoning (PDR).
