Abstract:
This invention is in the technical medical field. It's an apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the first phase of parturition instead of using the hand in measuring the expansion of the cervix for pregnant women. It can be used by gynecologist, nurses and pregnant women. The way the cervical measuring tool works is by pressing the button on the remote control to push the air in to the tube through wire connected between the tube and the remote control. The tube starts to expand. When the tube touches the cervix and is unable to expand the apparatus issues a voice and the measurement starts to process electronically and the result appears on a screen written and spoken. The apparatus consists of: A rubber plastic tube with a bent top which has the ability to expand, the length is 13 cm and the width is 1-2 cm (1) sensors on the tube (2) a hard hollowed wire connected between the tube and the apparatus that air goes throw it (3) A screen that shows the numbers visually (4) switch on button (5) remote control (6).

CLAIMS

1- An apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase includes: plastic rubber tube that has a bent top capable to expand 13cm length and from 1 to 2 cm width (1), sensors to sense pressure on the tube (2), hollow solid wire connected between the tube and the apparatus sending air through it (3), screen showing the written numbers (4), start button (5), remote control (6),

2- An apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase according to the elements of the protection (1) also includes an audio version (1), place to install batteries.

3- An apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase according to the elements of the protection (1) also includes sensors to sense the pressure on the tube (1), thin wires connected between the sensor and the air pump dynamo (2) dynamo to pump air (3).

4- An apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase according to the elements of the protection (1) which is characterized by:

Precision in measurement-cleanable-12cm length 8cm width and thickness ranges between 1 to 2 cm-the top is bent-gives spoken audio for the number.

The background :-

The invention in general is about measuring the expansion of the cervix uteri in and in particular the first phases of parturition.

It is worth mentioning that the apparatus which is available in the market currently is very difficult in terms of installation because where you need a camera and imaging to do the measuring process on another hand is hard to use, where you need a specialist to do the measuring and if the specialist uses his hand to measure causing the patient the severe pain. In addition it can cause infection for the patient and the fetus even if gloves are used.

According to the available technologies that have been revealed in United States patent trademark the source number 20060089570 it turns out that the apparatus not only measures the cervix uteri it also measures the thickness which led to the need for a camera , imaging , display screen , and large size of the apparatus .

That makes the apparatus expensive, the installation and use is difficult and the apparatus only works if there is an electronic power and camera. The apparatus can only be used by a specialist. And here lays the problem of the patients feeling shy and embarrassed in general, especially Muslim women, especially if the specialist doctor was male.

And the fact that there isn't a devise that is easy to use and available at home the patient has to go to the hospital so that the specialist can measure, so there is a lot of effort and time in the frequent visit to the hospital to measure the expansion because some hospitals and all private clinics do not receive cases only if the expansion is more than 7 cm. and if the hospital accepts the cases in the early stages of the expansion that makes the hospitals packed and there isn't any room for more severe cases so a lot of afford and time in following up with every pregnant patient because that will cause pressure in work and that will cause less time for other severe cases .

The apparatus only works if there is an electrical power and camera and the apparatus can only be used by a specialist. And this doesn't solve the problem mentioned earlier concerning the patient being shy and the pressure on the doctors and the overcrowding of the hospital.

So there is need to provide ((Apparatus of measuring cervix uteri expansion during parturition period))

That is simple, small sized, can be carried around, low in cost and easy to use on your own or by a specialist or anyone else. Also runs on batteries, gives vibrations when battery is empty. Also contains a reading pronunciation that benefits pregnant patients that are blind or uneducated. The apparatus is capable of measuring without pain and the apparatus is a device to help doctors do their job, so In case of using the apparatus in the hospital from gynaecologist and nurse:

1- Helps doctor's saves time.

2- Saves afford(effort).

3- Allows time to pursue other serious situation.

In case of self-using the apparatus from pregnant women :

1- Reducing the number of detection from eight times to two times.

2- Get rid of the pain.

3- Saving time and effort.

4- Providing places in (patients rooms) for other patient.

5- Reduce overcrowding at hospital.

so the use of the apparatus in the hospital help doctors save time and afford with follow ups with the patients and allows them to have more time with more severe cases. And the self use of the apparatus helps in:

1- overcoming shyness 2- less crowding in the hospital and leaving room for more severe cases 3- saving the patients time and afford by her frequent visits to the hospital.

After introducing the idea to women randomly that had already given birth naturally (from universities-clinic-hospitals) three questions were introduced-what is your extent of supporting the invention?

-the idea is great and can be applied easily.

-it's a fantasy and can't be applied.

-the idea will face difficulty when applied.

-80% the apparatus is very important to them and have a deep desire to self use it without fear and are looking forward to using it at home instead of going to the hospital and they said "it's great to only go to hospitals when we are in labor so we can rest from the continuous disclosure, so we use this apparatus at home and go after knowing our condition and only need like one or two checkups from a doctor by using an apparatus instead of more than five times by hand or by a complicated device."

20% support the idea by women that have already given birth naturally but are afraid to use the apparatus by themselves at home but can use it under the supervision of a nurse or doctor to avoid any mistakes.

The same question was asked to Obstetrics and Gynecology

Doctors and they all supported the idea and that it can be applied easily without any difficulty and they also said it would ease a lot of pressure and would overcome crowding in the hospitals.

General description of the invention:

The aim of this invention is to provide an apparatus for measuring the expansion of the cervix uteri in the first phase of parturition which a pregnant patient can self use if she wants and also can be used in hospitals by doctors and nurses.

The apparatus contains:

1- A plastic rubber tube which has a bent top that has the ability to expand.

2- Sensors that sense the pressure on the rubber tube.

3- A hollow solid wire connected between the rubber tube and the apparatus that air runs through it.

4- A screen that shows the written numbers.

5- Start button.

6- Remote control.

The most important advantages:

-The ability to wash and clean, easy to carry around, small size. The size is the size of a hand. (6) Figure (1).

-Works on batteries and gives vibrations when the battery is finished.(2)Figure(2).

-The top of the rubber tube is bent so that it can be inserted into the vagina easily without harming the vagina and cervix (1) Figure (1).

-Can be used by blind patients and uneducated patients because the results are said verbally by audio (1) Figure (2).

Detailed description:

as shown in Figure(l) The apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase has a bent plastic rubber tube able to expand the length is 13 cm and the width 1-2 cm (1), sensor that sense the pressure on the tube (2),a hollow solid wire connected between the tube and the apparatus air runs throw it(3), a screen that shows written numbers (4),start button(5) , remote control(6).

As shown in figure (2) the apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase also has an audio headset issue (1) , an installation place for the batteries (2).

And as shown in figure (3) the apparatus that measures the expansion of the cervix uteri in the parturition phase also has sensors to sense the pressure on the tube (1) , thin wires connected between the sensors and dynamo that pumps air (2) , dynamo that pumps air (3). The apparatus works by installing batteries AAA LR03 1.5V type in the battery
