Abstract:
Embodiments relate to an apparatus for applying haptic attributes using a perceptual texture space and a method therefor, the apparatus comprising: an image acquisition unit for acquiring an image of a part of a virtual object in a virtual space; a perceptual space position determination unit for determining the position of the image in a perceptual texture space in which a plurality of haptic models are arranged in predetermined positions, using a feature point of the acquired image; a haptic model determination unit for determining a haptic model closest to the determined position of the image; and a haptic attribute applying unit for applying the haptic attributes of the determined haptic model to the part of the virtual object, wherein the haptic model includes a texture image and haptic attributes for a particular object, respectively.
