Abstract:
To solve the problem of computing using complex multipliers from the viewpoint of hardware design, provided are a cubic convolution calculation device and an image scaler using same, in which the cubic convolution calculation device uses table-based tap coefficients that can calculate pixel values with low hardware complexity by tabulating tap coefficients so as to use only shift operators and adders. An image scaling method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving an image; changing the resolution of the input image by performing a cubic convolution operation on pixel values of the input image; and outputting an image whose resolution is changed, in which tap coefficients of an expression for the cubic convolution operation may be tabulated. Due to these features, it is possible to interpolate pixel values for changing the image resolution with low hardware complexity through cubic convolution using table-based tap coefficients that use only shift operators and adders without complex multipliers.
