Abstract:

An apparatus for changing a disc roll of a vertical piercing mill comprising a pair of disc frames (6) capable of supporting a disc roll (3), turning and being released, a disc suspension member (12) for mounting and removing the disc roll while the disc frames are under the released state and means (18) for loading the disc roll suspension member and moving in the horizontal direction, the apparatus being so constituted as to be capable of mounting and removing the disc roll. The disc frames (6) are turned sideways and are brought into the released state, and the disc roll suspension member (12) is moved to the disc roll mounting/removing position. Next, the disc roll (3) is lowered, is released from the support by the disc frames (6) and is thereafter restrained by the disc roll suspension member (12). The disc roll suspension member (12) is then moved from the disc roll mounting/removing position.
