Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for detecting battery cell failure due to an unknown discharge current, comprising: connecting a detector between a battery cell and a power supply for supplying charging power; determining whether the battery cell has been charged by the charging power over a preset reference charging time for each battery cell; when the battery cell has been charged over the reference charging time for each battery cell, measuring the current value of the battery cell in real - time; determining whether the current value of the battery cell measured in real - time exceeds a preset defect-determining reference current range value for each battery cell; and when the current value of the battery cell exceeds a preset defect-determining reference current range value for each battery cell, determining the state of the battery cell as being in a failure state in which unknown discharging has occurred.
