Title:
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE ITEMS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/140265
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for detecting electrically conductive items, having: a first coil and a second coil or a first coil part and a second coil part, which can simultaneously produce magnetic fields of opposite polarity, and a third coil which is arranged in the region of the opposite magnetic fields, and electronics which, during and/or after excitation of the first and second coils or the first and second coil parts in the form of a temporally variable current flow, detect a response to the excitation in the third coil or, during excitation of the third coil in the form of a temporally variable current flow, detect a response to the excitation in the first and second coils or the first and second coil parts, with the result that an electrically conductive item, when present in the region of one of the magnetic fields, produces a detectable signal in the detected response to the excitation.
