Title:
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING RELAY FAILURE OF BATTERY USING PARALLEL CIRCUIT FOR REGULAR POWER SUPPLY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/110955
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for diagnosing a relay failure of a battery while ensuring regular power supply by using a parallel circuit for a battery that is required to supply regular power to a vehicle. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a control unit; a relay unit through which, in a closed state of a switch, a current of a battery flows in order to supply power; and a parallel unit which applies the current of the battery in a closed state, instead of the relay unit in an open state where the supply of the power is interrupted, wherein the control unit controls the relay to a second state where the relay unit is in a closed state and the parallel unit is in a closed state, if the voltage and current of the parallel unit are zero in a first state where the relay unit is in a closed state and the parallel unit is in an open state; controls the relay to a third state where the relay unit is in an open state and the parallel unit is in a closed state, if, in the second state, the voltage of the parallel unit is the same as the voltage of the battery and the current of the parallel unit is zero; determines the switch of the relay unit as normal if, in the third state, the current of the parallel unit is the same as the current of the relay unit; and determines the switch of the relay unit as faulty if the current of the parallel unit is zero.
