Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for drying organic waste having high water content, which enable organic waste or coal having high water content to be dried in a short amount of time, and the use of energy for the drying to be minimized so that the drying can be economical, effective, and conducive to preventing environmental pollution and recovering available resources. An apparatus of the present invention for drying organic waste having high water content comprises: an evaporator configured to dry organic waste having high water content by bringing the waste into direct contact with heat-transfer oil; a compressor configured to adiabatically compress evaporative gas generated when the waste is dried; a heat exchanger connected to the evaporator through a heat-transfer oil circulation pipe to heat the heat-transfer oil discharged from the evaporator by using the evaporative gas adiabatically compressed by the compressor, and then supplying the heat-transfer oil back to the evaporator; a condenser configured to condense the evaporative gas used to heat the heat-transfer oil at the heat exchanger; a de-oiler configured to separate the evaporative gas condensed by the condenser into oil and water; and an oil tank configured to store the oil separated by the de-oiler, and supply the stored oil to the heat exchanger. In addition, the method of the present invention for drying organic waste having high water content comprises: feeding organic waste having high water content; bringing the fed waste into direct contact with a heat-transfer oil for drying; adiabatically compressing evaporative gas generated when the waste is dried; heating the heat-transfer oil used to dry the waste by the adiabatically compressed evaporative gas; condensing and cooling the evaporative gas used to heat the heat-transfer oil; and separating the condensed evaporative gas into oil and water.
