Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for generating power by using a brake system, the apparatus and the method being implemented so as to utilize energy generated during travel as reserve power of a vehicle dashboard, headlights and the like by using rotational motion of a brake rotor provided at a vehicle wheel, and the apparatus comprises: a circular plate-shaped disk rotor connectively provided to the vehicle wheel so as to rotate with the wheel; a caliper mounted and provided at one side of the disk rotor so as to enable a brake pad to come in close contact with the disk rotor in order to brake a vehicle; a plurality of permanent magnets mounted and provided at the disk rotor; and a power generation coil mounted and provided at the caliper so as to convert, into electrical energy, the kinetic energy of the permanent magnets rotating with the disk rotor, thereby enabling electricity to be harvested.
