Abstract:
 Provided is a hydrogen production technique by which it is possible to achieve high hydrogen production efficiency and stably perform operational control even when the power supplied to the electrolysis cell fluctuates. This hydrogen production apparatus 10 is provided with: a selector unit 50 for selecting an electrolysis cell 11 supplied with power, depending on fluctuation of the power supplied to the electrolysis cell 11; a first temperature control unit 51 for holding the temperature of the electrolysis cell 11 at a prescribed temperature, using a heater 13 provided to the interior of the reaction vessel 12; a first flow rate control unit 41 for adjusting the flow rate of water supplied to a water vapor generator 14, and holding constant the flow rate of high-temperature water vapor inputted to the electrolysis cell 11; and a second flow rate control unit 42 for adjusting the flow rate of hydrogen-occluding material supplied to a hydrogenation reactor 16, depending on fluctuation of the power.
