The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for inputting a Chinese character by means of a combination key, the apparatus comprising: a keypad unit; an input confirmation unit for identifying from the keypad unit a button key that has been selected by a user; a Chinese character generating unit for generating a Chinese character by means of a main radical, a general radical or a combination type corresponding to the button key that has been identified by the input confirmation unit; and a screen display unit for displaying on a screen the Chinese character that has been generated by means of the Chinese character generating unit. The keypad unit comprises: a plurality of main radical keys, each of which displays one or more main radicals; a general radical key portion comprising a plurality of general radical keys, each of which displays one general radical, and displaying on the plurality of general radical keys a plurality of general radicals that have been set in accordance with one main radical that has been selected by the user by means of one of the plurality of main radical keys; a plurality of combination keys, each of which displays a combination type in accordance with an arrangement of radicals; and a plurality of common keys.
