Abstract:

The present invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing a seamless pipe by friction stir welding a metal material extruded by means of a direct extrusion method. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the seamless pipe. According to one aspect of the present invention, an apparatus for manufacturing a seamless pipe is provided, the apparatus comprising: a container for containing a material to be extruded therein; a stem for compressing one end of the material to be extruded in the container; a die arranged in the direction opposite the stem and having an extrusion hole consisting of a plurality of ports; a rotating member arranged at a front end of the die, the rotating member having, at one surface thereof, a stirring tip to be inserted into a joint surface formed by joining a plurality of metal pieces discharged through the extrusion hole, the rotating member rotating while said one surface is in contact with the joint surface so as to perform friction stir welding; and a correction mold having a metal pipe discharge path for accommodating the metal pipe manufactured by the friction stir welding and discharging the metal pipe to the outside.
