Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and a method for performing vector outer product arithmetic. The apparatus comprises: a storage unit, a register unit, and a vector outer product arithmetic unit. The storage unit stores vectors; the register unit stores vector storage addresses; the vector outer product arithmetic unit obtains the vector addresses from the register unit according to a matching instruction; the corresponding vector is acquired from the storage unit on the basis of the vector addresses; and then the vector outer product arithmetic is performed on the basis of the acquired vector to obtain the operation result. With the device and method, the vector data participating in the arithmetic is temporarily stored in a high-speed temporary memory, so that during the vector outer product arithmetic process, data with different width can be more flexibly and effectively supported, thereby enhancing performance of applications containing the vector outer products.
