Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for preventing over-heating of a glow plug are disclosed. In preparation for a case where a sudden instantaneous power shut-down phenomenon occurs, the apparatus for preventing over-heating of a glow plug according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention sets a flag value in a memory unit when an operation starts through a normal process, and deletes the flag value when the operation is terminated by a key-off signal input according to the normal process. Thus, when the sudden instantaneous power shut-down phenomenon occurs during the operation, a key-on signal is input again to the memory unit in the state where the flag value has been set, and the apparatus for preventing over-heating of a glow plug can identify the occurrence of the instantaneous power shut-down phenomenon by reading the flag value from the memory unit when the key-on signal is input. Therefore, the apparatus can prevent excessive temperature rising by entering a temperature maintaining section without entering a rapid heating section. Further, the apparatus and the method for preventing over-heating of a glow plug according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention can prevent the over-heating of the glow plug, which extends the durability of the glow plug and prevents decrease in the startability due to early disconnection, thereby improving economic feasibility.
