Abstract:
An apparatus and related method for printing marks on media of different formats, such as for example identification plates for cables and electrical components or labels of varying type and sizes, intended for multiple applications, the apparatus (1 ) comprising: one printhead (13) movable along a respective printing direction (Z) between an operative condition in which it impresses the printing of marks onto said media (2), and a non- operative condition in which it does not print; a drawer (17) supporting at least a first type of plate (3) consisting of a tape (32) having a predefined size, movable along a direction (X) transverse to the printing direction (Z) at least between an access position wherein the tab (32) is arranged in or removed from the drawer (17), and a printing position in which the tab (32) is placed adjacent to the head (13); and a motorised drive unit (23) for a second type of plate (8) consisting of a tape (24) wound onto a reel (25), to continuously feed said tape (24) adjacent to the printhead (13).
