Title:
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SECURING BORDERWIRES TO MATTRESS INNERSPRINGS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001068286
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for applying clips (13) to mattress spring assemblies (12) via operating or positioning members (28) that position the innerspring coils (16) relative to the borderwires (14) with the end turns (20) of the coils (16) disposed inwardly relative to adjacent borderwires (14) in a predetermined clipping orientation. Improperly positioned innersprings (16) have their end coils (20) shifted past the borderwires (14) as they are advanced downstream to be clipped. The positioning members (28) use the progression of the spring assemblies (12) as they move downstream in the automatic clipping machine to properly position the innerspring coils (16) relative to the borderwires (14). At least one positioning member upstream from the clip applicator tool causes the end turns of the coils to progressively shift into the position necessary for proper clipping of the end turns to the borderwires. The positioning member does not have to be cycled between operative and inoperative positions for each clip that is applied
