Abstract:

Apparatus (42), and an associated method, for allocating resources at a target cell (16-T), or cells, of a cellular communication system (10). Determinations are made of the positioning (36) and of the velocity (38), of a mobile station. Predictions of a target cell (54) and when a handover (56) is likely to be requested are made. Responsive thereto, a request (64) is made prior to a handover request for the allocation of resources to permit the continued effectuation of a communication service upon handover of communications to the target cell (16-T).
