Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for skill-based robot programming, which provides required skill and task templates on the basis of user input information, so as to enable a user to easily program tasks to be performed by a robot, the apparatus comprising: a master DB for storing workcell items including a robot or peripheral units and having associated parameters, and master skill which is a set of instructions for operating the workcell items; a workcell manager for selecting a workcell item to be used among the workcell items stored in the master DB, and inputting parameters for the selected workcell item; a workcell engine for retrieving, from the master DB, master skill associated with the selected workcell item, and generating user skill by applying at least one parameter among the parameters for the selected workcell item to the retrieved master skill; a user DB for storing the selected workcell item and the user skill; and a task builder for generating tasks to be performed by the robot, on the basis of the user skill.
