Abstract:
An apparatus has a container (110) with a cavity (130) containing a medium, and the container (110) is sealed with a membrane (120) that ruptures at a rupture pressure. A pressurizer (114) pressurizes the cavity (130) to at least the rupture pressure, and a projectile (140) is propelled by the medium following rupture of the membrane (120). Preferred containers include pressurized cylinders (110), gun barrels (200), and ammunition cartridges (300), and preferred media include air, pressurized air and explosives, and a particularly preferred apparatus is a toy rocket launcher (100).
