Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for improving MT call performance upon RACH failure for page response using communications systems operating according to LTE and new radio (NR) technologies in conjunction with other legacy technologies. For example, certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes receiving a page from a network for a mobile terminated (MT) call, determining a random access procedure by the UE corresponding to a response to the page failed, and transmitting, in response to the determining, an indication to the network after initiating a cell reselection procedure that the page was received by the UE.
