Abstract:
Attachment systems for attaching accessories to a helmet shell and their methods of use are described. In one embodiment, an attachment system (100) may include a first attachment portion (102) mounted to a helmet shell (10) and extending through an opening (24) in an associated accessory. The attachment system (100) also may include a second attachment portion (104) that is selectively connectable to the first attachment portion (102). A surface of the second attachment portion (104) facing the helmet shell (10) engages with a bearing surface (22) of the accessory to selectively attach the accessory to the helmet shell (10). In certain embodiments, the first and second attachment portions may be selectively connected to one another using a connector (106) that moves the second attachment portion both vertically and horizontally relative to the first attachment portion when the connector is tightened.
