Abstract:

First, second and third zones (11a, 12a, ...) having different physical properties are disposed in this order on the outer periphery of a rotary disc (15) rotating synchronously with a motor. The lengths of the zones of these first to third zones are 120� in terms of electrical angle. One position detection device (10) fixed to a main body is so provided as to oppose the periphery of the rotary disc (15). When these zones pass by the device, three-phase position detection signals corresponding to these zones are generated.
