Abstract:
An apparatus suitable for polymer film production which can mitigate a problem that when a tenter conveyor is used for drying and heating in producing a polymer film, especially a polyimide film, film deformation occurs around the holes formed by pin biting and film breakage occurs at the holes to form elliptic holes extending in the width direction; and a process for producing a polymer film with the apparatus. The apparatus for polymer film production has a pin tenter type processing part, and is characterized by having a means of inhibiting those areas of the film which are located around the pins from deforming when both side edges of the film are pierced by the pins. The apparatus for polymer film production may have a means of cooling the pins to a temperature lower than 180°C when the film is pierced at both side edges by the pins and conveyed. The apparatus for polymer film production may be one in which all the pins arranged in the innermost row in the pin sheets are disposed at regular intervals in the film-conveying direction in each individual pin sheet and between the pin sheets.
