Description

APPARATUS FOR PROTECTION OF ODOR TREATMENT

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to an apparatus for blocking odors from a drainage hole and, more particularly, to an apparatus for blocking odors from a drainage hole, which can be separated. Background Art

[2] Generally, a drainage hole, which is installed in the floor of a bathroom of a building or in the floor of a multipurpose room, is installed so as to be connected with a drainpipe, and discharges various kinds of domestic waste water through the drainpipe. A cover body, having a plurality of discharge holes formed therein, is installed on the drainage hole, thus not only preventing the drainpipe from becoming clogged by filtering out various kinds of foreign material, which are contained in domestic wastewater to be discharged, but also blocking odors that flow back up the drainpipe.

[3] Generally, an odor blocking apparatus, which is installed in a drainage hole, is fitted into the inside diameter of a drainpipe and is provided with a water tank in which a predetermined amount of water is stored, and thus it is configured to function to block odors, which flow back up a drain.

[4] Apparatuses that improve on the conventional odor blocking apparatus, described above, are disclosed in Korean utility Model Registration Nos. 0308485 and 0233488. These prior arts prevent odors from flowing back using an elastic member or a blocking member having elasticity.

[5] However, the prior arts, described above, are problematic in that they are difficult to manufacture because they have a complicated structure, and in that they are difficult to clean.

[6] Furthermore, a predetermined amount of foul water remains in the upper portion of each odor blocking apparatus, and thus there is a problem in that odors are generated. Disclosure of Invention

Mode for the Invention

[21] An apparatus for blocking odors from a drainage hole is described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings below.

[22] FIG. 1 is an exploded sectional view showing the apparatus for blocking odors from a drainage hole according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[23] As shown in FIG. 1, the present invention includes a an upper body 10, a lower body 20 coupled with the bolt part of the upper body, a blocking part 30, including a hemispheric close contact plate for opening or closing an inlet hole according to the weight of introduced foul water, an elastic part 40 for providing elasticity, and a support part 50, fastened to the lower body to support the blocking part and the elastic part.

[24] An inlet hole 12, into which foul water is introduced, is formed in the upper portion of the upper body 10. The lower portion of the upper body 10 is open. A bolt part 14 having external threads is formed in the outer circumferential surface of the end of the open lower portion and is coupled to the lower body, which will be described later, thus enabling the upper body to be easily separated from the lower body.

[25] It is preferred that a nut part having internal threads be formed in the inner circumferential surface of the inlet hole 12 so that the inlet hole 12 can be coupled with a drainage hole. It is preferred that the upper surface 16 of the upper body be formed to have a shape that corresponds to that of the hemispheric close contact plate, which will be described later, in order to block odors that flow back.

[26] The upper portion of the lower body 20 is open. A nut part 24, which is coupled with the bolt part 14 of the upper body, is formed in the inner circumferential surface of the upper portion. An outlet hole 22 for discharging the foul water is formed in the lower portion of the lower body 20.

[27] Furthermore, in order to prevent the foul water from remaining in the lower body

20, it is preferred that the introduced foul water be discharged downwards by forming the lower surface 26 of the lower body 20 so that it is inclined at a predetermined angle.

[28] The blocking part 30 includes the hemispheric close contact plate 32, which is configured to store a predetermined amount of water while opening or closing the inlet hole 12 of the upper body according to the weight of the introduced foul water, and a support column 34.

[29] It is preferred that the close contact plate 32 be manufactured to have a shape that corresponds to that of the upper surface 16 of the upper body, and that it be formed to maintain airtightness when it comes into contact with the the inner surface of the shoulder of the upper body 16 The support column 34 is fastened to the lower portion

of the close contact plate, and is connected to the elastic part, which will be described later.

[30] Furthermore, it is preferred that guides be symmetrically mounted to the left and right of the support column 34 so as to be movably engaged with the support part, which will be described later, and guides the upward and downward movement of the support column 34.

[31] It is preferred that the elastic part 40 be connected to the lower portion of the support column 34 and provide elastic force to the blocking part 30, and that the elastic part 40 be manufactured from a compression coil spring, which is made of PVC material.

[32] The compression coil spring is made of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) material, so that the same elastic force as that of a spring, which is made of iron material, can be acquired and, in addition, a problem in which the spring rusts due to the foul water can be solved.

[33] Next, the support part is described below.

[34] FIG. 2 is a sectional view showing the support part according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[35] The support part 50 includes a seating part 54, configured such that guide rails 52, which correspond to the respective guides 36 formed on the support column 34, are formed in the upper portion of the seating part 54, and such that the compression coil spring is seated in the lower portion of the seating part 54, and a plurality of supports 56, configured to fasten the seating part to the lower body.

[36] The guide rails 52 perform a guide function so that the close contact plate 30 moves vertically according to the weight of the foul water. The seating part 54 functions to hold therein the compression coil spring, which provides elastic force to the close contact plate. The plurality of supports 56 functions to support the close contact plate.

[37] Furthermore, although not shown, it is preferred that the support part 50 be configured such that locking protrusions are formed on the inner circumferential surface of the lower body 20, and be configured to be easily separated in the case where the apparatus of the present invention is to be cleaned after fixing the plurality of supports 56 to the lower body.

[38] An example of the use of the present invention is described below.

[39] First, when no foul water is present, the close contact plate comes into contact with the upper surface of the upper body due to the elasticity of the elastic part, and thus odors that flow back are blocked.

[40] When foul water is introduced into the drainage hole, the foul water flows onto the close contact plate through the inlet hole of the upper body, so that the close contact plate is pushed downwards due to the weight of the introduced foul water, therefore the

foul water is discharged.

[41] In the case where a predetermined amount of introduced foul water is discharged and, thus, the force depending on the weight of the foul water becomes smaller than the elastic force that is provided by the elastic part of the blocking part, the close contact plate is restored to its original state, so that a small amount of foul water remains on the close contact plate, and thus the odor of the foul water is prevented from flowing back. Furthermore, in the case where the introduction of the foul water is interrupted, no foul water remains in the lower body because the lower surface of the lower body is inclined. Accordingly, the apparatus of the present invention can prevent odors from being generated.

[42] In the case where it is necessary to clean the odor blocking apparatus after the use thereof for a long time, the blocking part and the support part can be easily separated by separating the upper body from the lower body, so that cleaning can be easily performed.

[43] It can be seen that the basic technical spirit of the present invention, constructed as described above, is to provide an apparatus for blocking odors from a drainage hole, the upper and lower surfaces of which can be separated from each other. It will be appreciated to a person having ordinary knowledge in the art that variations can be made in various ways within the range of the basic technical spirit of the present invention.
