Disclosed are an apparatus for providing recommended content using backup data when transferring data between terminals, and a method using same, capable of: obtaining backup data from a reading terminal from among a plurality of terminals to be performing data transfer; generating user statistics data used for selecting recommended content using the backup data; and providing, to a writing terminal from among the plurality of terminals, a content execution condition for automatically executing the recommended content, together with transfer information corresponding to the backup data and/or the recommended content. The present invention is also capable of: obtaining the backup data from the reading terminal from among the plurality of terminals to be performing data transfer; generating the user statistics data used for selecting a recommended application using the backup data; and providing, to the writing terminal from among the plurality of terminals, transfer information corresponding to the backup data and/or the recommended application, thereby providing the recommended application that is optimized for the user, at the same time as transferring data.
