Disclosed is an apparatus for scarfing a steel bar by blasting a fuel gas to the steel bar.  The apparatus for scarfing a steel bar comprises: a fuel gas cylinder which is provided with a fuel gas region where the fuel gas is supplied and an inert gas region where an inert gas is supplied; a plurality of nozzles each of which has an end communicating with the inside of the fuel gas cylinder and spouts the gas out of the cylinder; a piston which partitions the inside of the fuel gas cylinder into the fuel gas region and the inert gas region; and a control means which controls the position of the piston within the fuel gas cylinder based on the dimensions of the steel bar.
