Title:
APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR ALERTING OF ABNORMAL DRILLING CONDITIONS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/126537
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A method (100) of monitoring drilling conditions includes acquiring raw data (102) from drilling equipment and conditioning the raw data (104) to generate conditioned data. Conditioning the raw data includes removing outlier data values and/or filtering out noise. The method further includes processing the conditioned data (106) to generate output values. Processing the conditioned data includes determining a slope of a first set of data values of the conditioned data. The first set of data values correspond to a regression length of time. Processing the conditioned data further includes determining whether a difference between the slope of the first set of data values and a median slope determined over a median window of time exceeds a threshold. The method also includes generating an alarm (110) based on the output values to indicate an abnormal drilling condition.
