Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for tolling a chime body which makes it possible to enjoy the sound of a wind chime close to that produced by a natural tremor, in an environment in which there is no natural wind. The apparatus for tolling a chime body is provided with a pendulum (6), a drive interval setting unit (23), a storage unit (24), and a drive control unit (25). A connection member (16) is rotatably attached as a single unit to a rotation shaft (15) of a drive motor (7), and the pendulum (6) is linked to a position of the connection member (16) eccentric from the center of rotation of the connection member (16), by way of a flexible suspending cord (17) so that the pendulum (6) hits a chime body (1) when the pendulum (6) is shaken and displaced by means of the driving force produced by the drive motor. The drive interval setting unit (23) outputs a drive signal for driving the drive motor at fixed time intervals. The storage unit (24) stores a drive pattern for the drive motor for each drive interval set by the drive interval setting unit. The drive control unit (25) drives the drive motor in accordance with the drive patterns stored in the storage unit, at each drive period set by the drive interval setting unit, to shake and displace the pendulum such that the pendulum hits and causes the chime body to toll. That is, while the drive motor is driven at fixed time intervals, at each drive period the drive motor is also driven in accordance with a predetermined drive pattern to shake and displace the pendulum and to thereby cause the chime body to toll.
