Abstract:
The invention pertains to an apparatus for underwater optical viewing with a device for reception of optical information arranged within, and behind the viewing port of, a housing, a device for processing optical information and a device for illuminating the underwater field of observation, wherein the electromagnetic-wave permeable viewing port with an inside zone surrounding a zone for the passage of the waves adjoins a ring-shaped supporting surface to form a fluid-tight planar connection. The invention provides that the viewing port has a pane (10) that is bidirectionally transparent for electromagnetic waves and that adjoins a support body (20) having a number of recesses (23, 24), with a device (30) for the reception of optical signals in one of the recesses (23) and an element (401, 402, 403, 40n) for emission of electromagnetic radiation to illuminate the field of observation in each of a number of recesses (24) situated in the area (u) between the recess (23) and the edge of the support body (20).
