Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for using content which correctly controls usage of content recorded on an optical disc by way of the apparatus. For the disclosed apparatus (600) for using content recorded on an optical disc (601), the optical disc (601) is provided with a control information area (602) comprising a plurality of partial areas (603a to 603n) upon which it is possible to record control information indicating that content recorded upon the disc is in an unusable state; wherein the disclosed apparatus (600) is provided with a positional information holding unit (612) for holding positional information for identifying a partial region upon which the control information should be recorded, a reading unit (613) for reading information of the control information area (602), an assessment unit (614) for assessing whether or not a content unit is usable using the information read by the reading unit (613) and the positional information, and a usage control unit (615) for using a content unit if an assessment is made of usability.
