[Problem] To provide: an application body which is used in writing or drawing, can be easily positioned on an object (object on which writing, drawing, application, etc., is to be carried out) when writing, drawing, etc., and is not prone to clogging during application, etc.; and an applicator provided with the application body. [Solution] This application body (1) comprises a rectangular bar-shaped application main body (2). The application main body is constituted by: an application part (2a) formed by grinding the outer peripheral part of the leading end part of said application main body; and a shank part (2b) comprising the outer peripheral part that has not been ground. The shank part (2b) is such that the shape of a cross section taken perpendicular to the axial direction thereof (transverse cross-section shape) is substantially polygonal.　Thus, it becomes possible to improve the precision of positioning the application part of the application body on the object on which application or the like is to be carried out, limit clogging during application or the like, and allow cosmetics to be applied accurately and finely when the present invention is used for cosmetics in particular.
