Abstract:
Disclosed is an application of an iron (III) complex containing 1,3-di-tert-butyl imidazolium cation in synthesizing arylbenzyl ether compounds. Specifically, di-tert-butyl peroxide is used as an oxidant, and a corresponding arylbenzyl ether compound can be synthesized by means of an oxidative coupling reaction between a phenolic compound and a toluene compound. In the present invention, an iron (III) complex is used as a catalyst for the first time, which achieves the oxidative coupling between a phenolic compound and a toluene compound. The foregoing is the first oxidative coupling reaction between a phenolic compound and benzylic C(sp3)-H bond, which provides a new method for the synthesis of arylbenzyl ether compounds. Compared with existing synthesis methods, the present invention avoids the use of toxic and polluting halogenated hydrocarbons and strong bases, has better atom economy, and conforms to the development concept of green synthetic chemistry.
