Abstract:

It is intended to provide a novel application of D-psicose (application to suppression of abnormal circadian increase in blood glucose level). It is a composition for suppressing abnormal circadian increase in plasma glucose level containing D-psicose as an active ingredient. The composition contains D-psicose and/or a derivative thereof. The composition contains D-psicose and/or a derivative thereof as an active ingredient and has a form selected from the group consisting of a sweetener, a seasoning, a food additive, a food material, a food or drink, a health food or drink, a pharmaceutical and an animal feed that can be used for prevention and treatment of diabetes, latent diabetic condition, obesity, hyperlipemia and/or arteriosclerosis, which are diseases requiring sparing of insufficient insulin, amelioration of insulin sensitivity and correction of high blood glucose level, and/or diseases in which a symptom can be improved or an onset can be prevented by suppression of abnormal circadian increase in plasma glucose level. A method for using D-psicose comprising giving D-psicose at a fixed time and suppressing abnormal increase in plasma glucose level throughout a day, characterized by using D-psicose for suppressing abnormal circadian increase in plasma glucose level.
