An application simulation method for a payment terminal (120), comprising: detecting a third-party editor version and opening a corresponding application engineering according to a pre-selected third-party editor version (S310); acquiring a custom application program in the application engineering, compiling the custom application program using a third-party editor, and linking the custom application program with a preconfigured static library and a preconfigured dynamic library to generate an executable file (S320); and executing the executable file to simulate the functions of the custom application program (S330).
